TROTWOOD, OH, May 12, 2017 – Redefining and addressing the scope of Trotwood’s retail market share is the goal of the Trotwood Community Improvement Corporation.  Attending RECon 2017 will support this goal.  The conference, sponsored by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is the largest concentration of retail outlets, developers and financing entities in the world.

Fred Burkhardt, Trotwood’s Community Improvement Corporation Executive Director, will attend RECon at the end of May.  Burkhardt expects a solid return on this investment. He explains, “I will be meeting with project finance companies, select retailers, and developers who appear to be well suited for the Trotwood market.   RECon will enable us to maximize the volume of personal contacts made, initiate longer term relationships within the industry segment and provide the City with exposure to the retail marketplace that has not been present in Trotwood for a long time.”

“In short,” Burkhardt comments, “RECon will let us meet more targeted retail sector, key players in a 4-day period than we would be able to do over a year and at a fraction of the cost.”

In 2016, Trotwood Community Improvement Corporation along with city leaders accomplished several key initiatives including the creation of 265 living-wage jobs, $10 million in new business capital investments, 600,000 square feet of empty stand-alone commercial space acquired by businesses, and the renovation of 13 empty, tax-delinquent homes.

ICSC has over 70,000 members from over 100 countries. These members along with ICSC leadership network, collaborate, and actively work together to shape public policy.   RECon convention brings together over 1,100 exhibitors and about 30,000 attendees.
